2023 JHM Exercise & May Meeting

Aloha CERT Volunteers and Supporters! I delayed putting the notes out for May's Virtual CERT meeting so I could include video of the Kapalua Airport Disaster Exercise, which CERT Supported last month. Special thanks to Gaye Gabuat (CERT Oct 2022) for recording the exercise and editing the video!

• Basic CERT Training class scheduled
  • Location: Maui County Building. Wailuku. 200 S. High Street.
  • Send email to CERT@mauicounty.gov to start process
  • Self-register and complete online training by 5/26
  • Attend both in-person dates
    • 6/3 for skills assessment ; 8 AM-5 PM
    • 6/10 for skills assessment & Field exercise; 8 AM-5 PM
  • Please help spread the word. Seats limited so best to complete online portion ASAP.

  • Working to develop training format with option for online+classroom training (hybrid) or all classroom.
    • Hopefully, this will allow us to get a full class
    • Dates will be communicated when scheduled
• CERT Support of Kapalua Airport Triennial Exercise
  • Simulated crash of Cesnna with 11 casualties
  • Worked under Incident Command Structure
  • CERT Team assisted in establishing Triage Site
    • Also assisted firefighters transporting injured victims from warm zone to Triage Site
  • CERT Team participated in exercise Hot Wash
  • CERT received very positive feedback from other exercise participants
