KAPALUA AIRPORT VIRTUAL TOWN HALL MEETING

Maui County Council Member Tamara Paltin will host a virtual town hall on proposed emergency runway lights at Kapalua Airport at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Operations at the airport are limited to daytime hours, and residents may have concerns about a state proposal to add the lights, said Paltin, who holds the West Maui residency seat.


“We look forward to sharing more information about this project and discussing what concerns the community may have regarding runway lights in Kapalua,” Paltin said in a news release. “It’s important for us to understand different perspectives regarding how this project could impact the community and environment in that area.”


Joe Pluta, president of the West Maui Taxpayers Association, will provide comments at the town hall, Paltin said. Marvin Moniz, the state Department of Transportation’s airports manager for Maui County, will also participate, she said.
