January 5, 2017 HHARP Lahaina, HI – Hawaii Hazards Awareness and Resilience Program (HHARP) at the JANUARY 12th, 2017 WMTA ANNUAL MEETING at the Lahaina Civic Center Social Hall with complimentary Food Service starting at 5 pm and opening remarks at 5:30 p.m The West Maui Taxpayers Association invites the public to participate in the January 12 launch of the nationally recognized and awarded Hawaii Hazards Awareness and Resilience Program (HHARP). This information session is the first of over a dozen monthly workshops expected to be held through 2017 and 2018. The objective of HHARP is to help communities prepare to be self-reliant during and after natural hazard events, improve their ability to take care of their own needs, and reduce the negative impacts of disasters. The West Maui community will be the first on Maui to undertake the HHARP process. The program is supported by the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), the Hawaii Department of Defense, and the Maui Emergency Management Agency. PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 4, 2017 WMTA ANNUAL MEETING Lahaina, HI –IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 12th, 2017 AND THE PUBLIC IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND: The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) will hold its Annual Members Meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the Lahaina Civic Center Social Hall. Last year nearly 300 attendees enjoyed the very interesting community presentations on WMTA top issues including the West Maui Hospital and Affordable Housing. There is complimentary food service catered by Maui Food Style, which will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by a short business meeting at 5:30 PM. The major purpose of the meeting is to have elected officials address issues of interest to the West Maui community, and to have special presentations on major project impacting the Isolated West Maui Community as illustrated above.
