WMTA ANNUAL MEETING Lahaina, HI –IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 12th, 2017 AND THE PUBLIC IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND:
The West Maui Taxpayers Association (WMTA) will hold its Annual Members Meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the Lahaina Civic Center Social Hall. The public is invited to this always informative event. AKAKU Community TV will tape the event for later re-broadcast.
Confirmed guest speakers are for the 2017 Annual Meeting are: Senator Rosalyn Baker – 6th Senate District Message from Governor’s Office Representative Angus McKelvey - 10th House District Mayor Alan Arakawa, County of Maui Elle Cochran - Council Member (West Maui), County of Maui HHRAP: Pacific Disaster Center introduction – Sharon Mielbrecht, Hawaii Mitigation Specialist; Department of Emergency Management – Maui – Anna Foust; State Department of Emergency Management – General Bruce Olivera, Community Programs Director Kahoma Village – Kaloa Robinson, Project Manager, Stanford Carr Development State ERS of Kaanapali Golf Courses Hawaii ERS Re-Design and Development, Ted Lennon, Sr. V.P.-Lowe Destination State Department of Transportation – Don Smith Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization - Lauren Armstrong, E.D. Tax Foundation of Hawaii - Tom Yamachika, President Maui Nui Marine Resources Council - Last year nearly 300 attendees enjoyed the very interesting community presentations on WMTA top issues including the West Maui Hospital and Affordable Housing.
There is complimentary food service catered by Maui Food Style, which will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by a short business meeting at 5:30 PM.
The major purpose of the meeting is to have elected officials address issues of interest to the West Maui community, and to have special presentations on major project impacting the Isolated West Maui Community as illustrated above.
